All 40 waterproofing answersSuitable metal roofs can be refurbished after the existing finish and defects are assessed. Fixings, corrosion and laps require a defined treatment before the main membrane.
Yes, the project scope can address both, with appropriate detailing at their interface. The quotation should identify each area and the specification used for it.
The corrosion must be assessed and treated to the project specification. Severe deterioration can require sheet replacement; applying a membrane does not remove that need.
Not necessarily. Condensation and rainwater ingress have different causes. Moisture, insulation and ventilation must be considered so the proposed refurbishment addresses the actual problem.
No. Unsound sheets, decks or supporting elements need assessment and appropriate repair or replacement. Waterproofing must not be presented as restoring lost structural capacity.
Photographs can support an initial assessment. A firm specification may need inspection, construction records and suitable testing to establish condition and compatibility.
